This is a shrine for my OC x Canon ship of Varka from Genshin Impact and my lovely lady in blue Merode ^_^ Their ship can be referred to as Varode, KnightTide, ⚔️🌊 and/or 🐺🦢. Small disclaimer that this is not a selfship/self-insert pairing, nor is it meant to be! I just want to see my fav characters happily in love without the headache of fandom discourse that Canon x Canon ships can bring LAWL !!Not gonna lie, this is so self-indulgent, they're literally my little eepies, so prepare to read and see some cringe 🥹

Overview
Varka and Merode first met sometime after Grand Master Valentine encouraged Varka to leave Mondstadt to explore the rest of Teyvat and find his sense of purpose and after Barbeloth encouraged Merode to return to Fontaine once she had finished her tutelage with her to find her sense of purpose. They bumped into each other while Varka was passing through Fontaine after he got kicked out of a local tavern for being too rowdy and Merode (despite herself) decided to step in and help him out. They parted ways as close acquantainces and only reunited much later after the events in Nod-Krai, the day Varka made his return to Mondstadt.
Their romance during Merode's temporary stay in Mondstadt starts out one-sided with Varka catching feelings first and Merode trying to keep things professional between them while secretly distancing herself from him little by little. Her last relationship did not end well at all, so this is more born out of a fear of letting herself get hurt again than a lack of interest. Eventually, there comes a point when she comes to the difficult decision that it'd be better to leave than to let him continue courting her. This breaks Varka's heart, but out of respect for her choice he doesn't stop her from returning to Fontaine.
After months of no communications between them, Varka makes a spur of the moment decision to visit her and actually tell her his feelings before giving up for good. To his surprise, Merode had been secretly hoping to see him again to apologize for her previous behavior with him. They end up reconciling with a kiss that nearly knocks Varka off his feet and the beginning of a wonderful and lasting relationship.
